Junior Assembly Technician
Role Purpose
An entry-level role within the Assembly team, supporting the production of cable assemblies, panels and associated products. Full training will be provided, with the opportunity to progress into an Assembly Technician role.
Key Responsibilities
Measure, cut, strip and prepare cables for assembly.
Prepare connectors, components, heat-shrink and identification materials.
Assist with cable, panel and mechanical assembly.
Follow drawings, BOMs, job instructions and production processes.
Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely.
Check work for accuracy and quality.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area.
Support the wider Assembly team in meeting production targets.
Training & Development
Full on-the-job training will be provided, including:
Soldering and crimping.
Connector termination and cable assembly.
Coaxial, audio and data cables.
Fibre-optic preparation and termination.
Panel wiring and loom assembly.
Reading technical drawings and BOMs.
Testing, inspection and basic fault finding.
As skills develop, the successful candidate will take on more responsibility and work independently.
Essential Requirements
Good practical ability and manual dexterity.
Comfortable using basic hand tools.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to follow instructions and work methodically.
Willingness to learn technical skills.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, organised and punctual.
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
Desirable
Previous workshop, manufacturing or assembly experience.
Electrical/electronics or cable assembly experience.
Soldering, crimping or fibre-optic experience.
Ability to read basic technical drawings.
Experience using test equipment.
Technical or engineering qualifications.
Full UK driving licence.
Progression

Progression will be based on demonstrated competency, quality of work, technical ability and the ability to work independently.
Further specialist training may be available in areas such as fibre optics, specialist connectors, complex assemblies and testing.
